A closer look at the vintage cars on Indiana Jones 5 - and the technology behind them

The vintage cars on the set of Harrison Ford's new movie Indiana Jones 5 are worth hundreds of thousands of pounds and give the transport museum a run for their money in terms of reflecting sixties Americana.

And despite there being more than thirty cars on set, directors of the film have brought in a special scanning machine to replicate the vehicles they have in 3D - so they can insert multiple copies of them using CGI later on.

In the same way that they are mapping Harrison's face to put his features on his body double, they will also replicate the vehicles on set, using the equipment which is similar to the mapping device used by Google street maps.

A huge double decker bus is on set and lots of incredible floats which we will see over coming days.

The cars are dotted around the film set which is in various locations around the city centre and takes in St Vincent Street, and Renfield Street.

Shooting yesterday took place on Cochrane Street outside the city chambers and in John Street but now the ticker tape parade from 1969 moves on.
