The Edge of Seventeen Wraps Up TIFF

The Edge of Seventeen was screened for the first time, on the last night of Toronto Film Festival, yesterday evening.

The latest teen comedy movie stars Hailee Steinfeld as leading character, Nadine, and follows the story of her struggling through high school, as an outsider to the ‘popular’ kids. However, she is surviving her high school years because of her best friend Krista but her whole world is twisted upside down when she discovers that her best friend is dating her brother.

Other stars of the movie include Woody Harrelson, Haley zu Richardson and Blake Jenner.

Everyone from the cast and crew, including Steinfeld and Harrelson, attended the premiere last night and wowed on the red carpet in Canada’s capital.

Variety described the film as the ‘savviest teen comedy in years’ and MTV called it ‘the next great teen movie.’ Leading actress, Hailee Steinfeld, has also received many compliments for her performance in the movie, with a lot of buzz surrounding her and an Oscar nomination next year.

Nevertheless, the premiere of her movie is not the only reason Hailee’s week has been great. Her latest single, ‘Starving’ featuring Zedd, hit the top 40 in Billboard’s top 100 this week.

Unfortunately, despite the film premiering at TIFF yesterday, we will have to wait two months until we are able to see The Edge of Seventeen when it is released in theatres on November 18th.
