Her story is one of the saddest we’ve seen on The Bachelor and that’s pretty big considering some of the sad and tragic stories that some of the men and women who appear on this show have to tell. It was Emily Maynard who first captured our hearts when she told of her tragic story of losing her fiancé in a plane crash when she was just 19 and finding out only a week later that she was expecting his baby. Hers wasn’t the first story involving loss or children, but it was the most poignant at that time. Juelia Kinney is the single mom who was married to the love her life when he committed suicide in 2013. She’s looking for love again, despite the fact that the couple has an infant daughter together. She’s ready to move on and find the man of her dreams, but it wasn’t Chris Soules, the Midwestern Bachelor. In fact, he eliminated Kinney in the fourth episode of the season after realizing he simply does not feel as strongly for her as he should. He sent her home with the explanation that he wanted her home with her daughter. We’ve grown to know a little bit about the bachelorette over the course of the past month, but there are a few things you don’t know about her.
She Didn’t Immediately Respond to her Former Husband’s Pick up Lines
When she met her former husband, he tried three times to approach her at the bar where they were both enjoying an evening out. She shot him down the first two times and finally agreed to exchange numbers and go out with him.
Their First Date was the Following Morning
The morning after they met, and she seemingly wanted nothing to do with him, she agreed to go out to breakfast with him. It’s the kind of first date you know isn’t going anywhere, because it is breakfast and no one goes on a breakfast date.
They Both Knew it was Meant to Be Right Away
Following breakfast it appears that both Kinney and her former husband called their mothers on their way home. They realized during a later conversation that they both told their moms they’d met the person they were going to marry that morning. Sadly, true love was not enough to conquer whatever demons that her husband might have had.
